The
Lake District is an area of around 880 square miles in the county
of Cumbria, in the north-west of England.
The Lake
District As the name would suggest the area is characterised
by its lakes, over a hundred in all, that were carved out of
the landscape during the last ice age. And the steep slopes
of England's highest mountains surround these lakes.
